FTP
is a network or internet protocol to transfer data or files from one computer to
another, in other words we can share a virtual file cabinet for both us and you
to upload and download files, as FTP is a much more efficient system for sharing
information for multiple parties as compared to email.
We offer three levels of FTP file access and file / credentials transfer
security, wherein the file is the data transferred from us to you and vice versa
and the credentials are your user name and password that are transmitted to our
servers to gain access to your data. The three levels of FTP security are
PUBLIC FTP, CREDENTIALED FTP (without encryption), and SECURE SOCKETS LAYER
(SSL) FTP, (with encryption).
Public FTP, click here
No credentials are required as the login is anonymous and the folders and
files available are available to anyone who accesses the Public FTP site, thus
there is nothing confidential on public FTP, data available would be general
interest information, articles, newsletters, and the like related to patents,
trademarks, and copyrights. NOTE do not send your invention and / or
priviledged information on PUBLIC FTP as it is not confidential. For
easier folder and file viewing in Internet Explorer (IE), click on the PAGE
button on the right side of your upper toolbar and on the subsequent drop down
menu click on OPEN FTP SITE IN WINDOWS EXPLORER.
Credentialed FTP (without encryption), click
here
This FTP site will require your own user ID and password, wherein you will only
be able to have access to your folder and no one else's. Although
credentialed FTP has user ID and password protection and only provides access to
a specific user's folder, neither the credentials or the files are encrypted,
meaning that both the credentials and files could be evesdropped upon by a motivated
hacker, thus while credentialed FTP prevents inadvertent access to your
credentials and files by a third party, access to your credentials and files is
possible. You need to contact us to have you user ID and
password setup on our servers ahead of time, such that when you access the
credentialed site an user ID and password window will appear. Also,
again for easier folder and file viewing in Internet Explorer (IE), click on the
PAGE button on the right side of your upper toolbar and on the subsequent
drop down menu click on OPEN FTP SITE IN WINDOWS EXPLORER
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) FTP (with encryption),
With SSL FTP you have the highest security FTP, wherein both your credentials
and data are encrypted having the protection against inadvertent access (as in
credentialed FTP above) plus protection against evesdropping as both the
credentials and data are encrypted (scrambled in an unintelligible form) for
their transmission over the internet. Thus, as above in credentialed FTP
above you will need to contact us to have you user ID and password setup
on our servers ahead of time as a first step.
Further, as a second step encryption requires a unique electronic link as
between your PC and our servers for the digital certificate to connect, you will
need to download SSL / FTP software to enable your internet browser to utilize
SSL / FTP protocol, click here to download
the software and follow the instructions for installing, this is normally
freeware for individuals and small business, however, the cost is negligible in
any case. Once the SSL / FTP software is installed execute the
following SITE MANAGER settings;
Site Name: Jackson Esquire
IP: 65.114.211.15
Port: 21
Timeout: 61
Retries: 2
PASV: checked
Use Proxy: unchecked
Connection: AUTH SSL
SSL Listings: checked
SSL Transfer: checked
Clear (CCC): unchecked
Windows SSL: checked (if you are using Internet Explorer IE as your
browser)
Open SSL: unchecked
At this point click on the CONNECT button, next you should see a Certificate
window and click on the ACCEPT ONCE button, at this point you will see a pair of
file manager windows, wherein the PC files will be in the left window and the
SSL FTP files will be in the right window, whereby you can move files from one
window to the other.
